The middle child of three, I grew up watching my dad always behind the camera, eager to capture every waking moment of our lives. From the bookcases he filled with family photo albums, to the dozens of VHS tapes piled upon the living room floor, he documented everything from hockey games and dance recitals, to summer camping trips, backyard shenanigans, and every holiday, birthday and Christmas in-between. I remember being a kid and asking him why he always had the camera out when mom so clearly was not a fan of being on film lol, and his answer was simple: One day we'll look back through these photographs and tapes and realize it was all the everyday moments that made life so grand. As a kid, I thought that was as good of an answer as any, but as I grew older I realized how much I loved looking back on those memories. How close I held them to my heart, and how I wanted to spend my days capturing these moments of love, adventure, chaos, and beauty.
As I fell more in love with photography, I realized being behind the camera was where I felt the most alive. Instantly Classic Photography was born while sitting in the bear chairs on my parents front porch. Wind chimes blowing, bundled up in a blanket and dreaming up what I could name a photography business. I had a love for black and white photographs, a timeless classic look, and loved to capture the unexpected moments. My dad suggested Instantly Classic, and I fell in love with the name. To me, it encapsulated not only the timeless, unscripted style that I loved - but also the feeling of knowing that a photograph will be cherished even more so in the years to come by future generations.
